We’ve both always been crazy about music, and we met as members of the worship team at The Father’s House. During the first couple of years of knowing each other, we started writing some worship tunes – first individually, then together. These were songs that we weren’t keen on showing people, however, and some of them will certainly never be released! Trust us…it’s best that it stays that way!
Over time, we started to realise that God wanted us to do something with our songs, and we started using some of them in worship at church. In 2012, God began to prompt us to record what we had been writing. As we started praying, He told us that our songs were like seeds. We had them in our hands, and we were holding them tightly. We didn’t know what the seeds would grow into, and how to make them grow, but he told us to make a place for them and to throw them down. That is what the first album recording was all about.
He highlighted Isaiah 55:8-13 to us, which became our prayer and declaration for the project:
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. 12 You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”
We believed that it was our job to throw these seeds down, and trusted that He would water them and cause them to grow into whatever He wanted. We released The Seeds Project in 2013 and were blown away by the response, and by God’s ability to take the songs to the most unusual places! The album reached #3 on the Australian iTunes ‘Inspirational’ chart, and got some airplay on Hope 103.2 in Sydney. We had the opportunity to play our music regularly at church, as well as at a number of other churches, events and conferences in NSW, and we continue to be amazed at how God takes something that is very small, and uses it to His glory!
